An exhibition by Jeff T. Owens
June 26 - July 25, 2014
Opening Reception: Friday, June 27, 8-11pm
Gallery Protocol Summer Sessions* is pleased to present Baffle Medusa, an exhibition by Gainesville, Florida artist Jeff T. Owens. For Owens, who trained as a traditional painter, Baffle Medusa represents an experimental foray into contemporary manufacturing technologies - relying on a computer-controlled router to translate digital drawings into large-scale objects including sculptures and relief-carved panels. Themes and imagery developed in previous series return as Owens continues his development of a personalized, highly symbolic language of forms and characters assembled piecemeal from the cacophonous wreckage of cartoon, sci-fi, glam rock, and arcade imagery he accumulated in his youth.
Jeff T. Owens was born in Savannah, Georgia and raised in nearby Pembroke. He received his MFA in Drawing and Paining from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He currently resides in Gainesville, Florida.
